Tragedy at the Ball Park in Arlington

Law Enforcement authorities on scene where a man tumbled to his death after catching a ball tossed to him in the stands.

Today a father tried to catch a souvenir baseball for his son and lost his life.  I’ve got to believe that MLB just may do something to stop such tragedies from happening again in the future.  Could it be that they prohibit players from tossing balls into the stands?  Is it possible that more safety features are placed in ballparks that keep fans from falling over railings to their deaths?
What an awful tragedy.  Poor Josh Hamilton has got to be feeling very distraught over this.  My heartfelt condolences to the family of this man and specifically his young son on the scene.  The deceased has been identified as Lt. Shannon Stone, an 18-year veteran of the Brownwood, Texas Fire Department.

  1. I just hope people post enough comments that the boy realizes there is nothing that he could have done. I know they all tried to hold on to him. It was just a fluke accident and his dad inquiring about him after he had fallen shows what a dedicated dad he must have been. We are all so torn up over this. My heart goes out to the family.
